If you can't go raw, get this. We've just started on Akela a week ago and already see a difference in energy levels, their faeces it's smaller and firmer, they both go absolutely mental for it. We already had a go-slow for our staffy x whippet but we weren't prepared for our 14 year old Staffy to go straight into guzzle mode! (He didnt before this) We soak it first for our senior, in hot water and leave to cool, and that seems better for him that leaving it dry but he still gulps! (Go slow is on the xmas list now!) The youngen's attention span is better, whether that's because they love the food so much (I use it as a training reward too) or because she feels better? Who knows. I doubt I'll ever go back to another brand now.

best food on the marketon our first bag of fish variety after using the original for 6 months and really impressed with results. Mini Schnauzers have great leg furnishings and they are bursting with health. Never seen dogs eat dry food so quickly you would think it was steak mince they were eating. Dogs don't seem to tire of it and are as enthusiastic at meal times as they were at the beginning. Looking forward to trying the new Duck variety. Excellent service all round. Well done

Great composition & launch priceEarly days as dog not been on it long. Composition/ingredents very impessive. 80/20. No normal potato only sweet which is great. No grains, rice, maize. Low carb content (important to me as a dog health consideration). Joint supporting (maintenace ammounts). Also good to see higher Omega 3 compared to Omega 6. Dog Stamina energy levels actually good on this. Output waste - No issues. Not so sure re need for tapioca but its not a red ingredient so not a major concern. I will consider buying more if the price doesn't significantly hike later as it becomes more established. Will reassess once dog (Lab) been on it a while.Looked carefully at nearest alternatives before taking the plunge on this. So far so good.

Great foodFantastic food, price is great.
We switched our border collie puppy over to akela small paws fish feast from autarky at 10 weeks of age (after slowly adding akela over two weeks).
He loves the food, he's always excited for meal times and never a crumb left. He likes it so much we can use it as training treats around distractions if we need to!
His eyes are bright, nose wet and he's not at all hyperactive but is always ready for training/adventuring.
His stools have decreased in frequency since we switched to akela.
On autarky he was toileting several times a day and they were a little soft and quite smelly, now on autarky he goes once after each meal and his stools are always firm (kickable) and far less smelly.
Would love to see this food in the shops! Have already recommended this food to a few people and will continue to do so!
We have tried the akela original (meaty one) as well and rate it just as highly, stools remained just as good whilst feeding the meaty akela, we chose the fish feast as our main food because of having a puppy fish is a little gentler on tums.
Would also recommend the akela 80/20 (fish/potato) 500g treat bag! awesome value and awesome treats!!Posted on
